About the Authors

Both authors work at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC), located on the campus of the University of California, San Diego. SDSC is also the leading-edge site for the National Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure (NPACI), a 48-institution partnership that aims to design and build the computational environment to support tomorrow's scientific discovery.

David Hart is assistant director for communications with NPACI and SDSC. As part of that job, he over sees the main NPACI and SDSC web sites, publications, media relations and other external relations activities.

Philip Bourne is a senior staff scientist at SDSC and the author of the Cookbook for Serving the Internet (Unix version), on which the Mac cookbook is based. In his day job, Phil is also an associate adjunct professor in the Department of Pharmacology at UC San Diego and an adjunct senior scientist at the Burnham Institute. His professional interests focus on biological data representation and query. Phil is also one of the principle investigators overseeing the operation and expansion of the Protein Data Bank.
